1.JOURNEY: Firstly, I randomly bought a bunch of flowers. It had a bar code which reminded me of some trees I had seen one hour
before in Rushcutters Bay. The trees had protective wooden surrounds which looked like a bar code and thus were coded to communicate that they were to be protected.
The similarities between the two plant forms, the flowers and the trees, both coded with both codes communicating important information to different receivers was of interest to me. I went back to photograph them, see below.

2.RANDOM DISCOVERIES: The bar code took me on a random mental journey of discovering and remembering codes of many kinds each with their own specific form and purpose.
These included behavioural codes, morse code, language code, spacial code, computer codes and even to the extent of
Da Vinci Code, Enigma code, security codes, catalogue codes, Government and council codes.

3. WORD CHOSEN FROM RANDOM GENERATOR: My 'word' was thus formed. CODE

4. LOCATION: I went to the Botanical Gardens to research Codes of Trees as I thought that perhaps my bar code numbers had a correlation with
the cataloguing codes of endangered species or other trees.
The numbers were not related and so I chose the nearest association which was the Brushbox tree, originally from South Africa
and possibly due to a similar latitude, the Brushbox grows well in Sydney and surrounding areas.

5. PROJECT: I made a loop video of trees, showing the journey through time and memory (see below) which in itself is a form of code.
Finally and instead of tree codes, I decided to research the broader application of codes, particularly more computer associated codes as seen in Experiment 1.

In the same salt quarry exhibition, the writing resembles 'code'.
